Scholarship Program


The Louisville Tango Festival Scholarship is available to full-time and part-time Latino & Hispanic students pursuing a degree in any major at the University of Louisville. Undergraduate and graduate students may apply. Preference will be given to students who have been active in Latino & Hispanic arts or community groups.  The recipient will be notified in late May. Our second recipient will be publicly announced at the Louisville Tango Festival on Saturday, June 2, 2018, and includes two passes for recipient and a guest to receive the award at the Saturday Milonga.

The Scholarship Recipient will be selected from applicants that are:

  • Current, full-time or part-time undergraduate or graduate students at the University of Louisville who have completed at least one semester. 
  • Students that identify as Latino or Hispanic.
  • Students that have a 2.75 or higher cumulative Grade Point Average.


All applicants must complete the provided application which includes: a personal resume, a one page personal statement, an unofficial transcript, and one letter of recommendation from an educational or community professional.

The Completed Application must include the following

  • Resume (include information about any involvement in Latino & Hispanic arts or community groups)
  • Personal statement (maximum length 1 page) introducing yourself to the selection committee while addressing your career goals and how the LTF Scholarship would assist you in pursuit of your degree
  • Unofficial copy of most recent college transcript (http://louisville.edu/registrar/online-services)
  • One letter of recommendation from education or community professional knowledgeable of applicants' academic and/or volunteer performance. Letters from relatives will not be accepted.
